BATTLEFIELDS The area is rich in battlefields from the Anglo-Boer War (1899 – 1902). A visit to Magersfontein 30km from Kimberley is well worth a visit with a wonderful relief map showing the positions of the two sides, and trenches still visible from the top of the kopje. An interesting little museum filled with fascinating memorabilia from the Battle of Magersfontein. Several other battle sites to visit in the area. Tours can be arranged.

engravingtwo.jpg WILDEBEESTKUIL BUSHMAN ART A visit to this San community on the outskirts of Kimberley takes you on a stroll around the kopje viewing the bushman art with the aid of earphones. Fun for the children and interesting things to see.
AVIATION MUSEUM Close to the airport, this small museum offers a fascinating history of aviation in S.A. As the SAAF pilots from WW2 were all trained in Kimberley, there is a lot to see here. Open by appointment. Also visit the CLYDE N. TERRY HALL OF MILITARIA at the MOTH Club. The exhibits include South African and international uniforms, relics, weapons and badges. Many of the exhibits are chronologically and geographically displayed, and wars include the Crimean, Anglo Boer War, WWI and II and many other minor conflicts in Southern Africa and the world.
